The “validity” about water being the one-step solution to skin dehydration, dullness, and acne has been around for ages. However, when we come to the essence of it, no one quite knows the logic behind this skin secret. Why is water important for the skin?
Water, the major component of body fluids, comprises about 70% of the total body’s composition. It plays diverse roles, all from acting as a carrier and an essential nutrient to acting as a solvent. It provides for a base in which most of the body functions take place. The water content in your skin acts as a barrier, thus protecting your skin from the external environment.
1. Does drinking water enhance skin hydration?
It is generally assumed that drinking more water equals plump, hydrated, and youthful skin. Fortunately, this assumption turns out to be true and is backed up by various research papers.
